The Carbide3D Air Assist kit is designed to make machining metal easier by delivering compressed air to the cutting zone, blowing away chips and cooling the material. Keeping debris away from the spindle reduces wear on the endmill and minimizes the risk of metal chips clogging the endmill, improving the overall reliability of the machining process.
Note: If you are not regularly machining metals, this accessory will not provide a significant benefit.

Compatibility
The Air Assist Kit is designed for integration with the heavy duty (HD) spindle mounts of the Shapeoko 4, Shapeoko Pro, or the spindle mounts included with the Shapeoko 5 Pro and Shapeoko HDM.
Recommended Infrastructure
The Air Assist Kit requires an external supply of compressed air. We recommend that the air delivered to the air assist unit be dried and regulated to between 15 to 45 PSI. The Air Assist Kit should not be connected directly to a compressed air supply in excess of 45 PSI (3 bar).
The compressor used should be able to deliver at least 2 CFM (55L/min) of air continuously at the desired operating pressure (please check your compressor's rated duty cycle and volumetric performance prior before purchase). The compressor should also have a 6 gallon (22L) tank or larger to buffer against pressure changes during operation.
