Software Compatibility

There's a lot of misinformation about Shapeoko software compatibility out there, so let's get to be bottom line and then add some details.

Shapeoko CNC Routers take normal G-code, so they work with any common CAD/CAM software. You are not locked into any proprietary software.

Now, most of that confusion comes from the fact that we include our Carbide Create software with every Shapeoko CNC router. Carbide Create is a full 2D CAD/CAM program based on industry-standard workflows that's designed to get you up and running quickly without having to spend more money on software. Because we created it, and include it with every machine, we always recommend that you start with Carbide Create, unless you already have something you like. Why start with Carbide Create?

• It's included at no additional cost.
• We fully support it, so we can help you with everything from basic questions and training, to reviewing your projects so you can get better results.
• It runs on Windows or Mac, and there are no license codes required, so you can install it on as many machines as you want with no licensing shenanigans.
• It's updated regularly with new features and bug fixes, so you're always getting the latest and greatest.
