Why Relief Maker?
Most CNC projects are made from relatively thin materials, and the 3D reliefs that are used in these projects are often very shallow. This is usually called a "bas-relief" or "low relief".
Low reliefs look great when made in 3D, but they can be difficult to create because they're not physically accurate. It takes artistic talent to create a flatter version of a normal object that looks correct. (Take a look at the sculpture on a coin, for example. The depth is shallow, but visually it looks like a 3D object.)
Relief Maker makes it easy to create a low relief from any 3D model, even if you have zero artistic talent.
A Simple Workflow
- Import one or more OBJ or STL models that you've made yourself, scanned, or found online.
- Create an extremely high-quality 3D relief in seconds with the press of a button.
- Save the height map as a PNG, OBJ, or STL.
- Load the new height map into Carbide Create Pro, or MeshCAM for machining.
Relief Maker Basic vs Pro
Relief Maker Basic generates a relief with a resolution of 1024x1024 pixels.
Relief Maker Pro generates a relief with a resolution of 16384x16384 pixels and allows you to compose a scene from multiple models.
Licenses
Relief Maker is licensed per user. You can install it on as many computers as you want, but you can only run it on one computer at a time.
The license is perpetual; there are no recurring fees.
When updates come out, you can optionally buy an update for $50 to get the newest version of Relief Maker and for $150 to get the newest version of Relief Maker Pro. Updates are optional.
Relief Maker Basic and Relief Maker Pro are intended for businesses or individuals who want to manufacture reliefs, for example via CNC or 3D printing or injection mold processes. Or, for artists who want to incorporate digital relief assets into larger CGI production projects. In other words, the relief is just an input to a larger goal, physical or digital. For those use cases, you can create and sell the resulting manufactured good or digital project.
