Shapeoko CNC routers are the ideal CNC machine for wood projects. They're capable of cutting any type of wood, from the most common pine and MDF to the most exotic hardwoods. When your projects call for something a little different, they're also capable of cutting plastics, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals.
What to Look for in a CNC Router for Woodworking
Cutting Size
Size is the most important factor when choosing a CNC router for wood. You want to make sure that the machine you choose is large enough to handle the projects you want to make, either in one piece or indexed through the machine. We have 4x4 CNC Routers if you have the room for a larger machine and want to cut half of a sheet of plywood at one time.
If a 4x4 machine is too big for your shop, all of our machines are open front-to-back so you can slide a project through the machine to cut it in multiple steps.
Dust Collection
Dust is the enemy of CNC routers, not just because it makes your shop a mess, but because the dust can get packed into the mechanical components of your CNC machine. All of our CNC routers include a Sweepy Dust Boot to capture as much dust as possible before it gets out into your shop.
Workholding
All of our CNC routers come with our Hybrid Table that functions as a rigid base to build the machine on, and as a T-slot system to help you hold material down to the table. We also offer a variety of clamps and workholding accessories for specific projects.
